Summer Happenings at Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish,

It is hard to believe that July is already half over, and summer is rolling along all too fast! I do hope you are finding time to rest and refresh. I would like to use this message for just a few simple “catch-up” announcements.

I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Sister Hedwig who recently graced our parish with her presence and her inspiring story about her Religious Community and their ministry and mission in Uganda. Your generosity allowed us to forward over $12,000 to our Mission Office who then forwarded the proceeds directly to Sister’s religious community. Thank you everyone!!
Just a simple reminder that our annual collection to support our Sister Parish of St. Anne will be coming in August near the Feast Day of St. Anne (which is July 26, 2024 this year). This collection provides us the opportunity to support our sister parish and their school in St. Ard, Haiti on a quarterly basis throughout the following year. Our quarterly gifts are safely distributed through the Haiti Mission Office of the Diocese of Norwich. They provide an accounting and audit report each quarter. Again, I am incredibly grateful for your consistent generosity.
This coming week we are hoping to begin the third phase (and final phase) of our three-year repaving project of the parking areas at St. James. I would ask for patience and for your concern for safety during this project. There will be minimal disruption of the traffic patterns…but please be attentive and careful. This phase is being completed at the cost of $89,000. Due to the very generous donation by a parishioner of $550,000 a few years ago we are able to complete this project.

For Our Local Pantries

Food insecurity rises in the summer time! We continue to seek food and cereal donations for our monthly delivery to the Rocky Hill and Amazing Grace food pantries. Non-perishable food items and cereal boxes can be dropped off at either church location.
