Homefront Day

Our Parish HomeFront volunteer program has provided free home repair assistance for mid to low-income homeowners in our nearby communities each spring for over 30 years, fueled by a mission of keeping deserving neighbors in their homes with an improved quality of life. The work day is a very rewarding experience, offering the opportunity to work side by side with fellow parishioners and assist a family or individual by making their home “warm, safe and dry.” This effort embodies Christian stewardship - sharing our time and talent to benefit our extended community.

Please consider joining our HomeFront team. We have a total roster of about 40 folks, with about 30-35 volunteers each project. We start organizing in late winter and usually work a home project on a day or two in May. Everybody from age 16 and up are welcome to join us. There are a broad range of home repair efforts on the project day, ranging from carpentry, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, gardening, and landscape clean-up. We also always need folks for hospitality, transportation and organizational skills.  Be assured that we will find something for everyone to do. It’s a great way to learn a new skill under an experienced mentor.

We also invite members of the community to consider someone who may have no other recourse for making necessary home repairs.  If you know any homeowners who could benefit, the application deadline is late December.

We are currently organizing a work team for May-June 2023. A sign-up sheet is available in the entrance of both churches.
You can also email our team captain, Bob Manzi to indicate interest.

I felt emotions leading up to HomeFront Day, one of which was feeling overwhelmed by the generosity of so many. You gave up a day to do so much for me. …I watched how everyone worked so very hard and accomplished so much in one day. …I’m reminded of how blessed I am to be given such a gift…thank you from all my heart.
