Greetings!
Recently I heard this awesome story that made me pause and wonder if I am an example of faith, mercy, forgiveness that inspires others to follow in Jesus’ footsteps:
A woman had six pre-school age children who made her every day an adventure. One morning her four-year-old started following her unrelentingly. When she stopped, he had run right into her; when she turned, she tripped on him, “wouldn’t you like to go out and play?” she asked. He replied, “No, I would rather be here with you.”
And so, it continued until finally she asked, “Why are you doing this?”
“Well,” he said, “our teacher told us to walk in Jesus’ footsteps. But I can’t see Jesus’ footsteps, so I am walking in yours.”
So where are our footsteps leading? Wherever it is, someone is almost certainly following us.
Think of the good people, who have left an enduring mark on our character and our way of life. Many may have never offered a single word of advice. But their goodness was so real that it spoke for itself and drew us near, until we made it our own. To this day, parts of many who are no longer with us still live within us, not just in memory, but in the very fabric and fiber of our souls.
Something to ponder and cherish as we remember the Saints and All Souls this coming week.
Peace and blessings!
