Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish, |
The Gospel readings of the Easter season persistently invite us to remain close to the risen Christ in love. This love is born in trust that the Lord is with us for all time in the form of the Holy Spirit. He made that promise to the disciples in the upper room before he suffered and died. He repeated the promise before he ascended to heaven. And he makes that promise to us today.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit entwine us in an unbreakable bond of love. Binding us together, this love makes us one in faith. This love creates and sustains life and glorifies the earth with beauty. This love inspires us to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and bring others to faith. This love reveals itself through a mother’s gift of life, protection, care, and devotion. This love welcomes us into the world at our birth and draws us to the Father when we take our last breath. This love is with us and in us for every breath we take during our earthly life, in every relationship, in every twist and turn of our journey.
The invitation to love is always present. It courses through every cell of our body and sustains every breath we take. Our response to this great gift is to receive love with open hearts, allow it to guide our walk through life, and share it with others.

Eucharist: Meal, Sacrifice, Presence
May 9, 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13
Saint James Parish Center
7:00 P.M.
Our Catholic Christian faith sees the Eucharist as central to the nature of our lives as disciples. There is so much that the various dimensions of this rich and beautiful sacrament seeks to communicate to us.
For so many of us that last structured learning we had on the Eucharist was in childhood. Updating our “software” on this critical sacrament may help us to deepen and refocus our faith and spiritual lives.
This May and June Deacon Michael will lead a six-part series on the Eucharist using Bishop Robert Barron’s study program “Eucharist: Sacred Meal, Sacrifice Real Presence.”
The series will be held on May 9, 16, 23, 30, and June 6, 13 at 7:00 at the Saint James Church Parish Center 767 Elm Street. There is a $10 fee for materials. Please register via email at saintjmdeacon@gmail.com (BEST!!!) or by leaving a message at 860-529-3222 Ext 14.
The sessions are free and open to all members of the parish community and friends. Learn more here.

An Update From Haiti
News from Haiti is difficult to find and often deeply disturbing, Recently, we heard from Father Vil Johnson, pastor at St. Anne:
"For Saintard so far there is no gang problem, but we are watching and praying. The students are composed to see if we can save the (school) year. Gas is expensive and food is becoming expensive, too, because vehicles cannot pass because the National Route is becoming very dangerous."
"We always say thank you. In this difficult times to St Josephine Bakhita Parish is always helping us."
"Thank you to Fr. George and we never forget the faithful of the parish."
